Online Residency

Our online residency program fosters a collaborative and connected environment where international eco-artists can grow their practice in sustainability and expand their artistic horizons through feedback and mutual support. Open to artists of all nationalities and disciplines, this program brings artists together online to discuss, work, collaborate, and be inspired, regardless of their location.

The online residency offers a flexible structure that allows participants to continue living and working in their existing settings while benefiting from international exchange and professional support.

The program includes curatorial guidance, mentoring sessions, regular group meetings, and expert talks.

Applications for the Online Program are accepted on a rolling basis with deadlines for specific quarters mentioned below:

FAQs

When does the On-line Program take place?

The artist can be located anywhere in the world, and schedules will be confirmed to accommodate time differences and other commitments. Activities typically take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, but can be adjusted if necessary. Some activities with external collaborators may have different dates and times based on availability. And curatorial meetings are scheduled depending on the artist's availability.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?

The online program is open to emerging and mid-career visual artists, multidisciplinary artists, curators, and art researchers from all around the world whose works focus on ecological practices.

How many works can I submit?

Up to 7 images

How much does it cost?

The program fee is  500 € - can be paid in two installments, with the first installment in advance to secure the spot on the program.

Could IOAEA provide me with a grant or funding?

We are committed to making the program accessible to talented artists from diverse backgrounds. One fully funded scholarship is available each round for emerging artists who demonstrate exceptional artistic merit and financial need. Interested applicants should contact us directly to express their interest and inquire about the scholarship application process, as additional information and documentation will be required.

 

Additionally, we can assist with applications for financial aid by providing a non-binding letter of invitation that endorses the artist's participation, which can be used to support grant applications within their own country.

 

What should I do if I am unable to attend a group meeting or lecture?

Participants are expected to commit to the program for the entire duration. Although we understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, therefore if an artist is unable to attend some meetings we are flexible to find alternative arrangements or record sections..

 

What topics are covered in the weekly lectures?

The weekly lectures primarily focus on sustainability in art, ecological artists, collaborative approaches with materials, and related subject matter.

Is there a private view/opening?

At the conclusion of the residency, participants are anticipated to take part in a collective virtual exhibition, which will commence with an opening event

How many works can I exhibit?

Artists can exhibit up to 4/5 works in total.
